Create Your Birth Kundli

Enter your date, time and place of birth to get your Kundli: the lagna (ascendant) with degrees, the rashi and house of the nine planets, the Moon nakshatra, the Navamsa (D9) chart and a Vimshottari dasha table. If you do not know your birth time you still get the rashi and nakshatra, and the page states clearly why the lagna and houses depend on it. The ayanamsa and house system are written right beside the result.

How to read a Kundli: six steps

Planetary positions are calculated astronomically (astronomy-engine), local time is converted to universal time using IANA time zone data (including old Indian time), and the birth place is looked up from GeoNames data. The ayanamsa is Lahiri, Rahu-Ketu are mean, and the houses are whole-sign houses. The Vimshottari dasha and nakshatra boundaries follow classical rules. Checked on 2026-10-10.

An example

As an example, take a birth in Delhi at 2000-01-01 12:00. The ayanamsa at that moment came to 23.8571 degrees and the lagna came out as Meena 13.19 deg. The Moon was in Tula Swati pada 4, which gives the birth nakshatra and pada. Moon: Tula 16.71 deg, house 8, Swati pada 4.

Method and limitations

  • The calculation is based on the Lahiri ayanamsa, whole-sign houses and mean Rahu-Ketu. Equal and Sripati houses are not offered yet; if other software uses different options, some planet-house placements may look different.
  • If the birth time is not known, the lagna and houses can be wrong. The Moon moves about 13 degrees in a day, so its rashi and nakshatra can change too; in that case the results that depend on the Moon are estimates. The slow planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu-Ketu) usually do not change. Do not treat the lagna as certain without entering the time.
  • For older dates (especially old Bombay time), the difference in the local clock of that era is not fully accounted for, so please verify the time.
  • The lagna has so far been checked only against sunrise-time geometry; a comparison of charts with other software is still pending.
  • This information is for guidance and tradition, and is not a substitute for professional advice.

Frequently asked questions

How do I read my Kundli?

First look at the lagna, which is the first house. Then see which rashi and house each planet is in, which nakshatra the Moon is in, and which dasha is running now. Here all of this is explained in six steps below your chart, using your own planets.

How do I make a Kundli?

Enter the date, time and place of birth. We convert local time to universal time, calculate the nine planets and the lagna, and draw the chart. If you do not know the time you can leave it empty, and the page will warn you about the lagna.

How to read a Kundli?

The chart shows twelve houses and twelve rashis. Start with the lagna, then look at the house and rashi of each planet. In the example the Moon was in Tula 16.71 deg, house 8, Swati pada 4. The page reads and explains your chart in the same way.

How do I check my Kundli online?

Enter your birth details on this page and the chart is made instantly. No sign-up is needed, and what you enter stays in your browser. The ayanamsa and house system are written beside the result so you can compare with another Kundli.

How do I see my own Kundli?

Enter your date, time and place of birth to make your Kundli, then read the six steps below. First look at the lagna and Moon sign, then the nakshatra and the dasha running now. Each step is shown with the figures from your own chart.
